  • You’ll be notified upon acceptance into Diploma program and your payment plan for the program.

COJB (Canada Ontario Job Grant)

The COJG provides an opportunity for employers to invest in training for their workers, with help from the government.

This grant can provide up to $10,000 per employee, per year, towards Fintech’s part-time courses or full-time programs, and requires employers to contribute as little as one-sixth of the total cost, based on the company’s size.

Employment Insurance & FinTech College

Taking a course at FinTech while on EI.

Can I take a course at FinTech while on Employment Insurance? With a limited number Yes, you can! Taking one of our part-time courses offered during evenings and weekends is acceptable. You may be able to take our accelerated full-time programs with permission from your provincial/territorial government or from Service Canada

You must show that you are unemployed, able and willing to work, and actively looking for suitable work. You must also show that taking a course or program is not an obstacle to your active job search or to your acceptance of appropriate employment. If you receive a job offer, you must be ready to make arrangements to work, and to adjust or cancel your training plans if necessary.

Canada Training Credit

Helping Canadians Get the Skills They Need to Find and Keep Good Jobs

Students between the ages of 25 and 64 can apply for the Canada Training Benefit, which is a new refundable tax credit that allows eligible workers to receive $250 per year towards their training amount limit.

To be eligible, you need to be a worker:

  • with at least $10,000 in earnings for work (including maternity or parental leave benefits)
  • with an income below about $150,000
  • between the ages of 25 and 64

The credit could be used to claim a refundable tax credit for up to half of the eligible tuition and fees for taking a course or enrolling in a training program. An individual’s training amount limit would be included in the information the Canada Revenue Agency sends them each year.

Better Jobs Ontario (Formerly Second Career)

Get skills training and financial support when you qualify for Better Jobs Ontario.

Eligibility

You may qualify for Better Jobs Ontario if you either:

  • have been laid-off and have not been working or are working a temporary job just to cover costs
  • have not been laid-off but have been unemployed for six months or longer and are part of a low-income household

You can still apply if you receive either:

  • Employment Insurance (EI)
  • Ontario Works (OW)
  • Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)

Lifelong Learning Plan

The Canada Revenue Agency Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP) allows you to withdraw amounts from your RRSP’s to finance your education for you or your spouse (or common law partner). You may withdraw up to $10,000 per year, and up to a total maximum of $20,000.

Students who have been named a beneficiary under a family member’s Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP), may use funds from the RESP to finance their education at Fintech.
